Printify 101 FAQs: Everything You Need To Know About The Print On Demand Company

Printify is one of the world's leading print-on-demand drop shipping companies. But what exactly does that mean? And how can you work with them to create a successful Etsy shop? In this article, you'll learn about Printify, including answers to some of the most common questions. Read on to learn more about how Printify works and why so many people use it today!

Printify is a Print On Demand company that allows you to sell physical products online by printing them as needed. Founded in 2013, they've since become one of the most popular print-on-demand companies in the world.

Are Printful and Printify the same?

Printful and Printify are not the same company.

Printful is a print-on-demand company that does fulfillment at its own warehouses. Printify, on the other hand, connects you to a vast network of print-on-demand fulfillment companies.

Are Printify and Shopify the same company?

Shopify does not own Printify. Printify is an app you may use with your Shopify store, meaning they are the ones that handle all of your printing and delivery. You do not need a Shopify store to use Printify. Still, Shopify is one of many options for selling Printify products.

Is Printify good? Are Printify shirts good quality?

Printify's shirts are good quality, but the quality of your shirt depends on which print provider you use. For example, Printify has partnerships with MWW and MyLocker, among many others. These companies do all the printing for you, not Printify.

Printify is fully transparent in sharing which print provider they use for items. Many products in their catalog, you can choose from several print providers.

There is also a number value attached to each print provider on a 1 to 10 scale, 10 being the best. Printify bases this number on fulfilling orders on time and the number of reprints.

How to use Printify

Signing up for Printify is easy. Head to the website, click "Sign Up," and fill out the form. Once you have an account, connect your store by clicking "Manage My Stores" in the dropdown menu in the top right-hand corner of your dashboard.

Now that you're all signed up, it's time to browse through Printify's catalog and design products! To do this, navigate to "Catalog" on your dashboard and filter by category or shop for specific items by name or keyword search. Once you find something you like, click the "Start Designing" button on it and start customizing!

You can edit everything from the product name and description to pricing before publishing them onto your store from your dashboard. If there are any questions along the way or something isn't quite working, reach out to Printify through their support chat!

Don't forget to order samples first! A sample product is a great way to ensure quality control. Plus, taking pictures yourself will give you image consistency across all campaigns.

The best print providers on Printify

Printify offers several print providers, depending on the product. Still, we've compiled a list of the ones that have proven themselves among the best. In no particular order:

  • MWW On Demand

  • Spoke Custom Products

  • MyLocker

  • WYOC

  • Imagine Your Photos

  • District Photo

What is Printify Premium?

Printify Premium is a membership that allows you to save money on fulfilling some products. Discounts can be helpful if you're printing many orders or have multiple shops in one account.

Printify Premium costs $29/month or $24.99/month billed annually, so it's a great way to save money if you are a volume seller!

What does Printify packaging look like?

Since you're ordering through Printify and not directly from the printer, the packaging is basic. In most cases, the products ship in plain poly mailers with no pricing or invoices included. The return address is your business name and address.

You can preview the packaging on most product pages in the Printify catalog. Go to a product and click the "More Details" button next to the print provider. In the popup, select the Production tab. Most print providers have a brief description of the packaging and a small photo.

How does Printify shipping work?

The print provider you select in the Printify network determines the shipping costs. The provider's standard shipping rate will automatically apply to that specific product. When an order goes into fulfillment, shipping charges bill at that time. Some print providers offer upgrades such as express delivery for additional fees.

To understand shipping costs before an order comes in:

  1. Visit the product page in the Printify catalog.

  2. Click the "More Details" button next to your chosen print provider.

  3. In the popup, select the Shipping tab.

All shipping costs are available there.

Why is Printify shipping so expensive?

Printify shipping is not expensive. It reflects the cost of us sending an order from the fulfillment center to your customer. It's pretty reasonable for what it is. Still, it may seem high at first glance when comparing this rate to other print-on-demand platforms. And especially if those others don't disclose their costs upfront.

Why is my Printify order on hold?

In Printify, you have the option to keep your orders on hold. "On Hold" means that when a customer places an order, it's on pause in Printify. Once you click the Submit button, the order moves forward. You will need to upload a personalized design for that specific order before submitting it to production.

Once the order is in production and the product is being made at the warehouse, you cannot make changes. If you have an order on hold and would like it in production, click "Submit"! Otherwise, if you take no action, the order stays paused.

Does Printify accept returns?

Printify does not accept returns but will send out replacements or refunds in certain situations. If the customer wants to return something, reach out to Printify support through the order invoice. They'll let you know if they can help with any issues related to that purchase by sending a replacement or refunding you.

Where is Printify based?

Printify is in the United States, and its print-on-demand partners are located worldwide.

Does Printify have an app?

Printify has a web-based app, as well as an app for Shopify. The print-on-demand company also has a mobile-friendly website that you access from a phone or tablet.

Printify vs. Other Print-on-Demand Companies

Print-on-demand printing has changed significantly over the last decade. We will compare Printify to other companies, showing you how Printify stacks up against Printful, TeeSpring, Redbubble, Printful, and Gelato.

Printify vs. Printful

Printify is a network of print providers. So there are more products available through Printify, and you can also find many unique products that don't exist anywhere else. These items include T-shirts, hats, sweatshirts, mugs, pillows, posters, and more!

Printful is another POD that offers similar products. They have their production and warehouses, which makes their prices higher than those at Printify.

Both companies provide their customers with excellent customer service, so if something goes wrong with your order, they will help resolve it.

Printify vs. RedBubble

Redbubble is a marketplace, while Printify is an app that connects to where you sell. The other difference between Printify and Redbubble is their pricing model. While Printify charges you per item ordered (plus shipping), Redbubble gives you a percentage of the sale.

Printify vs. Gelato

Printify is a print-on-demand company that allows you to set up an online store, upload your designs and products, and then sell them. Gelato is another print-on-demand app. It's similar to Printify in how it works and how much it costs. Still, some differences may make Printify better for you than Gelato.

One main difference between the two platforms is their price point: Gelato charges more per product unit than Printify in most cases. Suppose your goal is to create a successful business with high-profit margins. In that case, you should probably use Printify instead of Gelato (or any other company).

Another difference between these companies is how long they have been around. Since Gelato is a newer platform, innovation may be slow as it suffers growing pains.

Why should you choose Printify over other print-on-demand companies and platforms?

Printify is an excellent choice for anyone looking to get their designs printed on various products. They have an extensive product selection, with hundreds of different items available in their catalog.

Their interface is also much better than many other platforms that are out there. Printify allows you to easily choose which products you want to sell and create custom listings.

The platform also includes detailed shipping information. You don't have to worry about figuring out how much it will cost your customers for them to receive the item they ordered from your store.

In conclusion, Printify is an excellent option for those who want to add custom merch to their online shop. They're easy to use and offer high-quality products at affordable prices. It's easy to see why they've become such a popular choice among sellers.
